Soul Control

1 Thessalonians 5:23 May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches us that Man is a tripartite being, made up of spirit, soul and body. While it is easy to differentiate between spirit and flesh, it is virtually impossible to know the difference between the spirit and the soul. The only force that is able to make a distinction between the spirit and the soul is the Word of God. It acts as a scalpel to cut between spirit and soul.
Hebrews 4:12 For God’s Word is full of life and power, and is keener than the sharpest two-edged sword. It pierces even to the severance of soul from spirit, and penetrates between the joints and the marrow, and it can discern the secret thoughts and purposes of the heart.
Because the spirit of man and his soul are so closely connected, they are often confused with each other, leaving the religions of this world in a place of always seeking, without finding, and science bewildered as to the origin of Man.
Some refer to the soul as the heart of Man, while others would see the heart of Man as the spirit of Man.
Again, someone said a soul was saved last night at the gospel meeting, when in truth, it was not the soul that was saved, but a spirit was saved. True, a spirit can be saved instantly for eternity, but the salvation of a soul is a lifelong process, in which a person becomes more and more set apart to the Lord and His will.
It is when a person becomes a new creation in Christ, that “the lights are turned on” and he can begin to control his soul from his recreated human spirit.
In reality this process “Soul Control” is the salvation of the soul and is explained and referred to in the scriptures in numerous ways.
First of all, the Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 12:2 to become transformed by the renewing of the mind. Once a person is born of God, he is now in a place that his mind (as a part of the soul) can be affected in a powerful way. He can now begin to think like God and govern his actions accordingly. Someone who is not born again cannot think like God, nor does he have the desire to do so. An unregenerated man with unregenerated thinking is perfectly happy in what he thinks, no matter how illogical it seems. Who in his right mind would believe in evolution and survival of the fittest, and then go extremes to overcome evolution by trying to “conserve the species”?
Soul Control also includes “Soul Repair” as pictured by David in Psalms 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Once again, you can see the ifference between the spirit and the soul: A spirit cannot be restored, but must reborn (or regenerated). A soul cannot be reborn, but is in need of restoration.
The restoration of the soul leads a person to receive forgiveness of sin and graciously extend forgiveness to others. The candidate who is involved in “Soul Repair” lets go of offences and does not hold on to grudges, or considers an evil deed against him.
This process, called “Soul Control” eventually brings your soul to a place of prosperity and will grant those exercised in this discipline a godly amount of health and wealth as prescribed by the Apostle John in 3 John 2:
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
This scripture explains that your measure of health and wealth is in comparison to the measure that your soul is prosperous. I don’t know about you, but I choose to have a prosperous soul, a renewed mind and keep my emotions in check according to the Scriptures.
